    ADvTECH Group has 94% of Makini Schools shareholding and is responsible for the operational management of the schools. Scholé International and Caerus Capital have a combined holding of 6% of the shareholding.

  • What curriculum does Makini Schools follow?

    Makini Schools follow the Kenyan and Cambridge curricula. The Kenyan curriculum includes the 2.6.6.3 Competency-Based Curriculum currently catering for Pre-primary to Junior Secondary. The Cambridge curriculum caters to years 1 - 11. We apply global best practices in pedagogy with a focus on retaining Kenyan values. 


  • Does Makini have boarding facilities?

    Makini Schools has boarding facilities in our Kibos Campus, Kisumu.

  • Does Makini offer IB?

    No, Makini does not offer IB. Should the student wish to pursue a foundational year or IB, the career guidance office will assist them in their application to other learning institutions.

  • How do I apply for a job at Makini Schools?

  • Is school transport available?

    Yes, school transport is available to almost all areas within Nairobi, as well as in our Kisumu campuses. See here to access the routes and applicable cost.

  • Does Makini have campuses outside of Nairobi?

    In Nairobi, we are located off Riara Road and on State House Avenue.

    And in Kisumu, we have three campuses in Kibos, Migosi, and Kisumu City (Nyerere Road).

  • What are the admissions requirements?

    Please prepare the following documents to either upload with your application or to submit hard copies to the admissions office:



    A copy of the child’s birth certificate

    Latest school report from the child’s current school

    Leaving certificate/letter

    NEMIS number and assessment number for those registered with the Ministry of Education

    Copy of parents/guardians ID card/passport

    KCPE result slip if applicable


  • Is there a deadline for admissions?

    No, we have intakes running throughout the year if there is space available for the required year group. At Makini Schools we believe that our education should enable each learner to make amazing academic progress no matter their entry point.

  • What activities can my child engage in outside of academics?

    Lots! We have a very wide range of competitive sports which we pride in as a school, from swimming, to basketball, football, chess. We also offer music, art, drama and many other clubs. Click here to see more.

  • Do you offer religious education?

    Most definitely! We offer Christian Religious Education and Islamic Religious Education. However, we respect all faiths and our learners are free to practice their faith, as long as it does no harm to another.

  • How do I access information regarding my child's progress and fees?

    You can access information on your child's progress via our academic management system - STASY : https://stasy.iie.edu.za/

  • Does Makini offer scholarships?

    Makini Schools offers scholarship opportunities when funding is available. This is advertised when available. 

  • Does Makini enrol children with special needs?

    Depending on the specialised care required for the special need, the Headteacher will be able to determine if we can provide a good education and an enabling environment for your child. We would schedule a meeting with the Headteacher for you to discuss this and arrive at a decision that is best for your child.
